About Carla

Hello! Thank you for being here! I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker who just started a part time private practice called Nuevos Caminos Therapy Services while balancing a full time job as a Mental Health Clinical Supervisor. I graduated from USC with my Master of Social Work in 2008. I recently became certified as a Perinatal Mental Health Provider by Postpartum Support International. I''ve also completed the Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Counseling training. My extensive trainings and educational background have equipped me with the necessary tools to work with a variety of client populations. Although my clinical background is a combination of working with adolescents and adults with severe mental illnesses, my primary focuses in my private practice are to provide individual therapy and couples counseling to adults ages 18 and over who are experiencing a variety of emotional challenges related to attachment issues, boundaries depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, generational and racial trauma, family conflict , life transitions and women with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I also conduct Immigration evaluations for individuals for reasons of extreme hardship, seeking a U-Visa or asylum, and women seeking a VAWA petition. I''m approved by the Board of Behavioral Sciences to provide supervision for ACSW''s and I am able to provide clinical case consultations to LCSW''s for a reduced fee. In therapy, my goal is to help my clients seek clarity, find peace and self-compassion in their lives while also working on healing their wounds that may feel too heavy to overcome or carry on their own. As a Latina therapist and first generation Salvadoran-American, I''m most passionate about transforming the lives of individuals who identify as a BIPOC, Latinx and women of color. My therapy approach uses techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT) , interpersonal therapy (IPT) and person centered therapy with a healing centered , anti-racist and culturally sustaining approach. Providing a safe space and a collaborative process for my clients to feel vulnerable and honest is the most important piece of my work in order to make my clients feel seen and understood. Please check out my website and reach out to me if you''re interested in working with me to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation.
